- The walls and ceiling are 6”. The floor is 8” in both sizes.
- The concrete is 4000 PSI reinforced with rebar.

- They have an electrical outlet and conduit running through the ceiling to a switch box on the wall just inside the door for those who want to add electricity and light switch to the inside.
- The door is primed. It opens to the inside and is double plated steel with a 3-point locking system.
- The door can be locked from the outside with a padlock.
- A slab is not necessary. These shelters typically sit on a bed of gravel. The gravel helps us make sure the shelter is level and provides a dry base for it to sit on.

Unpainted Concrete Above Ground Installation
The above-ground concrete safe rooms are typically set on 1-2 yards of Crush-n-Run, leveled to form a pad roughly one foot larger in all directions than the shelter itself. We usually pitch the shelter slightly toward the door so that any rain finding its way in will drain out the door. The shelter is metal strapped to the ground with two straps and 4 augers. It can be placed on a slab in which case we would use angle steel to anchor into the concrete.
